Biography

Robert W. Flugum received a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin in 1948. His career began at Westinghouse Electric Corporation as a district engineer dealing with all types of electric utility problems.

He moved on to the Ohio Brass Company where he dealt with the application and design of surge arresters, insulator contamination and insulation strength of high voltage lines. He later worked for the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington D.C. to manage their transmission research program, and eventually worked for C.T. Main in Boston.

He was known internationally through his many technical papers and his work in the IEEE Power Engineering Society and in CIGRE.

Flugum died on February 26th, 1998.
