Biography

John N. Grace (IRE Student Member, 1951; Associate, 1952; and Member, 1954) was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on 27 May 1924. He studied electrical engineering at Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, receiving the D.Sc. degree in 1951.

After finishing graduate school, Grace took a job with the Westinghouse Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in Pittsburgh. He started in Instrumentation and Control and became Supervisor of Reaction Plant Kinetics. In 1955, he became Manager of the Advanced Development Reactor Section, and two years later, in 1957, he was assigned responsibility for S1W, S2W, S3W, and S4W Physics. Later Grace became responsible for Physics and Kinetics in the Natural Circulation Reaction Project, and in 1962, he was Manager of Physics and Kinetics on the Destroyer Project.

Grace was a Member of the IRE, the AIEE, and the American Nuclear Society.
