Biography

Gaspar R. Valenzuela, was a native of Santiago, Chile, who came to the U.S. in 1953. At the University of Florida he earned a B.S. in 1954 and an M.S. in 1955, both in electrical engineering.

He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore in 1965.

He began his career in 1955 with Westinghouse Electronics in Baltimore and later worked for the johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab and Carlyle Barton Lab. He was a remote sensing researcher who retired in 1993 after 25 years with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. He was head of the special studies section in the imaging systems and research branch at NRL.

Valenzuela died of cancer on September 21st, 1997.
